Non-Metals
Non-metals include hydrogen (H), carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), oxygen (O), sulfur (S), selenium (Se), the halogens, and the noble gases. Some characteristics include:
- Poor conductors of heat and electricity, compared to metals
- Dull and brittle, rather than metals which are lustrous, ductile, or malleable
- Lower densities than metals
- Significantly lower melting points and boiling points than metals (except for carbon)
